Tropical Storm Dean was spinning to the southeast of Nova Scotia in this satellite image captured on August 27, 2001 over the Atlantic. The image also shows bright aquamarine water over the Grand Banks of Newfoundland to the northeast of the storm. To the west of the storm, a thick band of aerosol hangs over the east coast of the United States. A bit of dust from Africa is visible in the lower right corner of the image.
